A case of widow was reported to the Udoka D&G Eha-Alumona in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State in March 2007. This widow Stella Ezeugwu was sent home by her husband’s relatives because she had no child so that they will have the opportunity to inherit the widow’s property. The widow reported the case to D&G women Group Eha-Alumona. The D&G women immediately invited the widow’s relations but they refused to answer the call. The D&G group then marched to the widow’s husband’s family chanting their slogans on 15th July 2007 and ordered them to allow the widow to stay in her husband’s house and also to release all the late husband’s properties both land, crop and cash to her immediately or face the sanction of the D&G women; which include: a sit down of 500 to 1000 women in front of their house for a whole day, and chanting of derogatory songs on the Family maltreating widows. First of all, the women collected a penalty of several kolanuts from them for refusing to see the D&G women when they were invited. The widow’s husband relations being afraid of D&G women then handed over the properties to the woman and there is peace in the family. The D&G women have stopped so many crimes in their community.
