Another case was brought to Ifunanya Uwenu Imilike-Ulo about a man Ikechukwu Omanu who maltreated her mother Agnes Omanu because of landed property left to Agnes (Ikechukwu’s mother) by her late husband. Ikechukwu and his wife collected the properties by force from his mother after series of quarrel and misunderstanding in the family and locked the old women (his mother) in the police station in May 2006.
The case was taken up by the D&G women in Imilike-Ulo who then invited Ike and his wife but both refused to answer the call. After several attempts, the women as usual penalized the man by imposing some fine but he refused to pay it nor bail her mother from the police station. The women (D&G) of Uwenu CBO chased Ikechukwu Omanu and wife out of the village because of atrocity he committed as well as the fact that he did not fulfill the charges given to him by the women. He was made to leave the village on May 27th 2007, when all the women of Uwenu about 200 in number went to the police station at Nsukka and got the mother of Ikechukwu released without bail, then the women
Said that Ikechukwu will not stay with her mother until he had fulfilled their charges and since then he had been in exile.
