SELF HELP/COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS (2004-2007)

YEAR ACTIVITY PROJECTS RESULT
In 2004-2005

DEC through her advocacy and Community Mobilization programme inaugurated Four (4) Project Implementation Committees in, Eha-Azuebor, Ukpata, Nkume  and Nomeh

Totaling 100 (PIC) members; with 25 in each community of Implementation

Through Training, retraining, mobilization and concretization, Two(2) Projects  were initiated by the Communities namely:

Eha Azuebor – Concrete Bridge of one quarter km over Ebonyi River, and Nkume built a health Centre in their community
The (2) completed CD projects was made possible by the seed grant of DEC,  and EED, and the community fund raised through levies as well as the State Govt. Counterpart funds in the community that built Health Centre.   DEC and the Community did the Bridge with no government support.
In 2005 - 2006

DEC through her concerted efforts in community mobilization for participation in their own development, incorporated a 25-member

Project Implementation Committee (PIC), after series of workshops and Training in Four Selected Communities.  The point of entry is the DEC’-Assisted Women SHGs in Imilike Uno, Imilike Etitti, Nkalagu Obukpa and Agbamere.
Two (2) Community Development Projects have been initiated in Imilike Ulo – Civic Hall/Skill Training Centre and Health Centre/Maternity in Imilike Etiti community respectively

The (2) projects are still on-going and DEC has contributed N500,000 each to this project.
The Government is yet to support either of these

Projects financially.
In 2006-2007 DEC mobilized and created; “women-agents of social change” in Awhum and Mmaku communities through her Democracy and Governance programme in 2006.  Both communities have inaugurated a 25-member Projects Implementation Committee (PIC) for the execution of their own identified community  development projects.

Awhum(D&G) group Project := – Refurbish, Repair and Installation of Transformer to power their water pumps which had   broken down  for 4 years now.

And the second project is  the construction of Market stalls and lock- up shops by Mmaku  women (D&G) group.
These  project are being implemented by the D&G women supported financially by DEC/EED funds.and the women levies. of the community.  The Local Government when contacted by the women promised to assist , but nothing came from them up till now. However, the women leaders are not relenting in their pursuit for better life.
