TRAINING COMMUNITY WOMEN GROUP LEADERS FOR EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP AND WOMEN PARTICIPATION IN COMMUNITY GOVERNANCE PROGRAMMES IN THEIR COMMUNITIES
The task of governance is both learned and born with. No wonder some adage say that leaders are born while others say that leaders are made through training. In whichever way, the crux of the matter is how well is the leader able to lead the people towards good governance and provision of basic projects and policies that affect the people of the positively especially where the decision is seen not be gender sensitive like our continent Africa and the country of Nigeria.
Development Education Centre that work in partnership with communities of the south east and north central states of Nigeria where the culture and tradition is not the same makes it a duty to ensure that the women empowerment project carriers in the communities are well acquainted with the strategies of engagement and community mobilization, advocacy and collaboration.
In fulfilling this part of the intervention process, 60 women from the local governments of Ofu and Idah in kogi state were trained on leadership capacity building, synergy engagement, and mobilization for women rights education and empowerment.
The is training will transform the women into strong women pressure group for th promotion of women human rights and inclusive good governance in the community
